Global Coalition for Informal Workers' Health, Safety and Wellbeing (GCIW)
We are a group of occupational health and safety professional organisations, public health experts and other interested organisations and individuals. The coalition was formed to facilitate the exchange of research, good practice examples and effective implementation of policies to reduce health and safety risks of workers who are not covered by formal employment regulations and social protection.

The International Labour Organization estimates that globally 60% of workers work without a formal employment contract.
Informal work is found in most sectors, even in the developed world. Alongside the social costs associated with informal work, these people may be exposed to substantial health and safety risks. They may be unaware of these risks or how to best protect themselves. Our members share assessment methods, workable and affordable solutions and methods of communication with groups in the informal sector.
